The Economic and Social Committee (ESC) has published its Rules of Procedure, further to their adoption at the plenary session held on 2 June 1994. The ESC is the general advisory body to the Council and Commission representing the economic and social interest groups of the Member States. It may deliver opinions on its own initiative on all questions concerning Community activity. Its Rules of Procedure cover the following: - Organization of the Committee; - Procedure of the Committee; - General provisions. The Committee is divided into the following sections: - Agriculture and fisheries; - Transport and communications; - Energy, nuclear questions and research; - Economic, financial and monetary questions; - Industry, commerce, crafts and services; - Social, family, educational and cultural affairs; - External relations, trade and development policy; - Regional development, and town and country planning; - Protection of the environment, public health and consumer affairs.
