The European Commission has published a call for proposals for EU-US Cooperation in Higher Education and Vocational Training: Actions for Transatlantic Links and Academic Networks in Training and Integrated Studies (Atlantis). The general objectives of this call are to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the European Union and the United States of America including broader knowledge of their languages, cultures and institutions and to improve the quality of human resource development in both the EU and the US. There are three types of actions under this call: Transatlantic Degree Consortia Projects, Excellence in Mobility Projects, and Policy-oriented Measures. The Transatlantic Degree Consortia Projects provide support for consortia of EU and US higher education institutions (hereafter called 'consortium') to implement dual/double or joint degree programs referred to in the present document as 'Transatlantic Degrees'. Support includes mobility grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff (faculty). The Excellence in Mobility Projects action provides funding for international curriculum development projects that involve short-term transatlantic mobility not directly related to the award of a joint or dual/double degree. Support includes mobility grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff (faculty). The Policy-oriented Measures part is designed to support to multilateral EU-US projects and activities designed to enhance collaboration in the higher education and vocational training field.
