The European Commission has published a call for proposals and expression of interests under the European Observation Network for Territorial Development and Cohesion (ESPON) 2013 programme. The call is composed of three sections, with several subsections. There is a call for proposals for applied research projects: - European regions: potential contribution to the EU 2020 Strategy; - Territorial scenarios and visions for Europe; - Territorial potentials for a greener economy; - Territorial governance - best practices for new perspectives. There is a call for expression of interest by stakeholders for targeted analyses. (This includes financing five projects in later calls for proposals.) Lastly, there is a call for proposals within the ESPON Scientific Platform: - the EU Territorial Monitoring and Reporting System. The calls have different budgets, but a single application deadline of 21 March 2011. The mission of the ESPON 2013 Programme is to support policy development in relation to the aim of territorial cohesion. It does this by providing comparable information, evidence, analyses and scenarios on territorial dynamics, and revealing territorial capital and potentials for development of regions and larger territories. The programme is partially financed by the European Regional Development Fund, the EU Member States and the Partner States Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. To see the official call announcement in the Official Journal of the European Union please consult: OJ No C 23 of 25 January 2011(opens in new window)
