Following the Council Decision adopting the Fourth Framework Programme and the Commission's proposal for a specific programme on targeted socio-economic research, the European Commission, in preparation for a call for proposals, is launching a call for expressions of interest in the programme. The specific programme consists of work addressing the following areas and sub-areas: - Evaluation of science and technology policy options: . Analysis of the RTD situation in Europe in a world context; . Socio-economic needs and changes, and scientific and technological developments: short- and medium-term assessments and scenarios; . Methodologies, tools and approaches, which are relevant for the preparation, monitoring and evaluation of science and technology policies; - Research on education and training: . Education and training policies: European dimension and diversity; . Quality and innovation in education and training; . Education, training and socio-economic development; - Research into social exclusion and social integration in Europe: . Forms and processes of social exclusion and integration; . Causes of social exclusion, particularly unemployment; . Migration; . Evaluation of the impact of social integration policies.
