Under the Fourth Framework Programme, the Community's AIM (Advanced Informatics in Medicine) programme will be fully integrated into the specific programme on telematics applications of general interest (TELEMATICS). The objective of the Community's AIM programme is to stimulate the development of harmonized applications of information and communications technologies in health care. A work programme for AIM has now been produced which identifies the following areas of activity: - Multimedia medical records; - Increasing the resources available to the medical professions and improving health service management; - Telemedicine and new telematics services; - Information services for citizens and healthcare workers; - Support issues specific to telematics for healthcare. Applications to the AIM programme from international consortia will be possible during the TELEMATICS call for tender, which will be launched on 15 December 1994, with a closing date of 15 March 1995. The results of AIM programme activities under the Third Framework Programme (1990-1994) will be presented at a large international conference on "Health in the new communications age", which will take place in Lisbon on 6-10 December 1994.
