As part of its activities to assist European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), the European Commission's THERMIE programme, DG XVII, is producing a directory of SMEs active in the oil and gas sector.

The aim of the directory will be to encourage joint ventures between SMEs and between SMEs and oil companies. SMEs will be listed in the directory according to nationality and area of activity, as follows:

- Geophysics and prospecting;
- Drilling;
- Production systems;
- Engineering, consultancy, fabrication, construction and modification;
- Materials and equipment suppliers/manufacturers;
- Secondary and enhanced recovery;
- Environmental influence;
- Auxiliary ships and submersibles;
- Pipelines;
- Transport;
- Natural gas technology;
- Storage;
- Research and development;
- Miscellaneous.

The directory will be free of charge.
