The European Commission has published a call for the development and maintenance of the website and technical support for the development of new technical specifications for the EU Energy Star Programme. The EU Energy Star Programe is a voluntary appliance specific label, identifying consumers appliances that meet certain standards regarding energy efficiency. It started in 2001 when the European Union signed an agreement with US governmental Environmental Protection Agency to introduce the Energy Star for office equipment in Europe. This now allows potential partners in the European Union to sign up through the European Commission, who is responsible for the EU Energy Star Programme. The development of the EU Energy Star Programme website is an essential part of accomplishing the aim of the initiative. The site will contain information related to the programme, including the legislative framework, forms for registration of products and participating companies, a list of already registered companies, a database of registered products, search tools, recent news and reviews, and more.To see the official call announcement, please consult: OJ No S 224 of 22 November 2011(opens in new window)
