The European Commission has published a call for proposals entitled 'China IPR SME Helpdesk'. This new call comes under the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (EIP). In the field of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), support from the European Union is necessary to maintain the international competitiveness of EU Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and help them to overcome problems arising from their limited resources. This call for proposals, which prolongs the activity of the China IPR SME Helpdesk set up in 2008, is intended to help EU SMEs enter the Chinese market SMEs and to avoid them becoming easy victims of counterfeiting and predatory behaviour from abroad. The Helpdesk will be providing EU SMEs with, among other things, first line advice services; state-of-the-art materials for legal background support; trainers and training materials; and reports on the latest IPR developments. It will also manage a multi-lingual web portal for IPR protection in China, monitor selected IPR cases and policies, attend trade fairs and provide basic support for initial contacts with local law enforcement agencies. To see the official call announcement, please consult: Participant portal
