The European Commission and the Council have published their joint Decision 94/908/ECSC, EC, Euratom of 19 December on the conclusion of a Europe Agreement between the European Communities and the Republic of Bulgaria. In the field of science and technology, the Europe Agreement foresees cooperation in research and technological development activities, with particular reference to the following: - The exchange of information on each other's science and technology policies; - The organization of joint scientific meetings (seminars and workshops); - Joint R&D activities aimed at encouraging scientific programmes and the transfer of technology and know-how; - Training activities and mobility programmes for researchers and specialists from both sides; - The development of an environment conducive to research and the application of new technologies and adequate protection of intellectual property and the results of research; - Participation of Bulgaria in the Community RTD framework programmes (according to specific arrangements still to be negotiated). Cooperation will also be carried out in the fields of education and training, agriculture, energy, nuclear safety, the environment, transport, telecommunications, and information and the audiovisual sector.
