Council resolution on training quality
The Council has published its resolution of 5 December 1994 on the quality and attractiveness of vocational education and training. The resolution recognises the importance of vocational education and training in the European Union. Full employment, economic growth and an innovative and competitive economy are key goals of the EU and of each Member State. The resolution sets out the principles which should guide the formation of future Commission initiatives in the area of vocational training. In particular, it calls on Member States to increase their efforts at both national and Community level to improve the quality and attractiveness of vocational training, and in particular to endeavour to secure the participation of undertakings in the vocational training of young people. The Council also calls upon the Commission to give lasting support to the efforts of the Member States and industry with a view to achieving greater quality by making use of education and training programmes, including those of the European Social Fund, as well as promoting dialogue on these matters within the European Union.
