Biotechnology: 1994 report on protein engineering R&D programmes in Europe
The European Commission, DG XII, has published an information report on "Biotechnology: 1994 report on protein engineering R&D programmes in Europe". The report contains the work carried out by the Commission and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) in the framework of the Community's strategy for increased national cooperation in the field of R&D. The protein engineering research activities and programmes of 16 European countries were reviewed and analysed in order to achieve an improved level of coordination in this field. An overview of research activities in protein engineering in the USA, Canada and Japan is also provided. The report is intended as a first step in a continuous approach towards providing better information for the scientific community, programme managers and policy makers involved in protein engineering in Europe.
