The European Space Agency (ESA) has published a brochure entitled "A European satellite testbed for telematics applications". The publication provides an introduction to how the telematics programme of the European Commission provides the opportunity to develop a wide range of telecommunications services in Europe. The document outlines three levels of activity which can be considered in order to support satellite-based telematics demonstrations. These are: - Functions which provide core activities in the provision of a satellite testbed; - Provision of specific interconnectivity scenarios which provide generic services to the end-user community; - Activities which are concerned with user test programmes which are application oriented.
