Quality control and radiation protection of the patient in diagnostic radiology and nuclear medicine
As part of its series on "Radiation protection dosimetry", the Commission, DG XII, has published the proceedings of a workshop on "Quality control and radiation protection of the patient in diagnostics radiology and nuclear medicine". The workshop, co-organized by the Commission in the framework of its European radiation protection education and training programme, took place in Grado, Italy, on 29 September to 1 October 1993. The workshop addressed the following areas: - Overview of trends and evolution in the past decade; - Intercomparisons of dose reduction concepts, methods and practices; - Definition of procedures for optimization of radiation protection, concerning the clinical, equipment and organizational aspects as well as training; - Analysis of the relationship between cost, risk and benefit; - Perspectives of the transfer of know-how to the user. The proceedings present the results of the workshop in light of the above under the following sections: - Guidance; - European and multinational trends and activities; - Image quality; - Computer applications; - Quality control; - Radiation protection of the patient. An author index and a list of participants are also included.
