European strategy for energy research and technological development
The European Commission, DG XII and DG XVII, has published the proceedings of a seminar on "European strategy for energy research and technological development", which was held in Venice on 18-20 November 1994. The aim of the seminar, which brought together over 100 energy specialists from Europe and overseas, was the preparation of the energy part of the Fourth Framework Programme for research and technological development (1994-1998), and in particular the specific programmes for non-nuclear energy, nuclear fission safety, and thermonuclear fusion. The proceedings present the main results of the panels held during the seminar on the status, prospects and RTD requirements for individual energy fields (nuclear fusion, nuclear fission, renewable energies, energy conservation, fossil fuels and transport).
