The EUREKA Annual Progress Report for 1994 provides a general picture of EUREKA's project portfolio as of 15 October 1994. Over 650 running projects are described, involving some 3,500 participants and representing a total estimated cost of around ECU 11.5 billion. EUREKA projects are carried out in the following areas: - Medical and biotechnology; - Communication technology; - Energy technology; - Environmental technology; - Information technology; - Laser technology; - Material technology; - Robotics and production automation; - Transport technology. The report also gives a statistical overview of more than 200 projects that have already finished. The cost of these projects is estimated at ECU 3 billion, bringing the total cost of ongoing and finished projects to over ECU 14.5 billion. The report also contains descriptions of 11 successfully finished projects which describe some actual results and experiences of European R&D work under the EUREKA initiative.
