RTD Programme in the field of industrial and materials technology
Under the Community's third RTD Framework programme (1990- 1994), a common position on the specific RTD programme in the field of industrial and materials technologies (1991- 1994) was agreed by the Council on 6 May 1991. A final decision on this programme will be taken only after the second reading of the European Parliament. To avoid delays in implementing the programme, the Commission is planning activities related to the first call for proposals. Organizations eligible to participate may wish to take note of the research areas which are expected to be covered. Area I: Materials - Raw materials (raw materials, recycling, structural materials, functional materials, mass commodity materials); Area II: Design and manufacturing (design of products and processes, manufacturing, engineering and management strategies for the whole product life cycle); Area III: Aeronautics. Research in these areas will be carried out by means of shared cost contracts for R&D projects and concerted actions.
