Euroabstracts: June 1995
"Euroabstracts" is published each month by DG XIII of the European Commission. It provides abstracts of Community RTD publications in addition to a review of RTD results, policies and activities. The June 1995 issue presents an article entitled "Safe energy for the 21st century: European research in nuclear fission safety". The European Community has a long tradition of RTD in radiological protection, nuclear protection, nuclear safety and decommissioning. The article reviews recent and future activities, including assistance to Eastern and Central Europe. There is also an update on library economics in Europe which looks at a recent report providing much needed information on the trends in the supply of and demand for library resources in Europe. A section on new publications includes reviews on "European research in the spotlight", "Tracking Europe's ozone hole", "Update on biotechnological research" as well as "Alternative energies for Europe". The June edition includes some 40 pages of abstracts of recent Community publications on research, science and technology. These cover a wide range of subjects: earth sciences; engineering and technology; energy; life sciences; materials; mathematics, computers and telecommunications; nuclear science and engineering, and physics.
