Prior notification of concentration between Hoechst and Marion Merrell Dow
The European Commission has published a prior notification of a concentration between two pharmaceutical companies in order to invite interested third parties to submit observations on the proposed operation. On 17 May 1995, the Commission received notification of a proposed concentration by which the undertaking Hoechst AG would acquire control of 72% of the undertaking Marion Merrell Dow Inc. (MMD) by way of purchase of shares. A further 28% of the undertaking will be purchased from dispersed ownership. The business activities of the undertakings concerned are: - Hoechst: Research, development, manufacture and sales of chemical and pharmaceutical products; - MMD: Research, development, manufacture and sales of pharmaceutical products. The Commission invites interested third parties to submit their possible observations on this proposed operation to the Commission.
