Finding a novel delivery system for mRNA therapeutics to treat cancer and heart failure: EU project EXPERT releases animated clip

The Horizon 2020 project EXPERT has now released an animated clip illustrating the project work to find a new off-the-shelf delivery system for RNA-based nanomedicines with a first clinical application in breast cancer and cardiovascular disease.

The short animation aims to showcase the project approach and goals in an easy-to-understand and entertaining format in order to inform interested non-professionals about the latest scientific pathways and approaches in mRNA therapeutics. The clip is available on the EXPERT project website (https://www.expert-project.eu/) and on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRKVzW4OhwY). Since the project launch in 2019, the 11 international partners with complementary expertise in the entire nanomedicine therapeutics development track are collaborating to complement existing clinical studies with mRNA therapeutics and to overcome some of the main obstacles mRNA-based therapy approaches are facing on their way to the market. The EXPERT approach could be used for improving diagnostic and therapeutic options for additional types of diseases in the future. During the first year of the project, the EXPERT partners have made significant progress in realising the project’s objectives. Following still on-going experimental work, the consortium is working hard towards the implementation of a first clinical study focusing on immunotherapy for metastatic triple-negative breast cancer.
