Results of first call for proposals for the BRITE/EURAM III programme
The first call for proposals for the specific programme for research and technological development, including demonstration, in the field of industrial and materials technologies (1994-1998) (Areas 1, 2 & 3)(BRITE/EURAM III) was published on 15 December 1994. The results of this first call for proposals are now available. A total of 1,180 proposals were received of which 283 (144 A1 projects and 139 A2 projects) were recommended by the experts' committee for financing. As the overall budget for these proposals amounts to ECU 550 million and the budget available for this call for proposals is only ECU 325 million, it will not be possible to finance all A2 projects. The first contracts should be signed in November 1995. The breakdown of partners participating in projects by type of organization was as follows: - Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) (2,316); - Industry (3,000); - National unions (1,976); - Universities (1,727); - International organizations (63); - Other (70); - Total (8,553). The subdivision of proposals by industrial sectors was as follows: - Aeronautics, aerospace (162); - Automotive, components and parts (158); - Chemical, petrochemical (82); - Construction, building, civil engineering (72); - Electrical, electronic industry (98); - Energy, power generation (61); - Engineering, software, technical services (32); - Food, drink, water (21); - Instruments, sensors, precision equipment (59); - Materials processing (150); - Mechanical engineering, machinery (75); - Medical and biomedical equipment (14); - Mining, quarrying (18); - Mineral processing (15); - Printing, office equipment (5); - Railway, locomotive (31); - Shipbuilding (36); - Shoe, leather (8); - Textile, clothing (22); - Toys, leisure (0); - Wood, paper, furniture (15); - Other manufacturing industries (38).
