The Port of Antwerp implements carbon dioxide transport infrastructure
The project is developing a first-of-its-kind CO2 network infrastructure that will allow for transporting CO2 from the Port of Antwerp area to be permanently stored in the Norwegian continental shelf. The infrastructure to be developed will include a 22 km long pipeline for collecting captured CO2 from emitters as well as an export terminal, where it will be stored, liquefied and loaded onto ships for transport to permanent geological storage. The project will have an initial annual capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of CO2 per year, with the ability to expand to 10 million tonnes by 2030.
