Building a new life for sediment and shells
Every year, the EU generates significant amounts of sediment through dredging operations, and 490 000 tonnes of shells from aquaculture. The GREENLIFE4SEAS project is demonstrating the feasibility, safety and viability of collecting this waste and transforming it into secondary raw materials for the building and construction sector. At the heart of this effort is an innovative mixing technology that can be used on-site, allowing aquafarms to conveniently turn waste into paving blocks, breakwaters and mass stabilisation units.
