The European Commission, DG XXII, has recently published the LINGUA Compendium 1994 which lists the projects financed, in 1994, under the centralized parts of the action programme to promote foreign language competence in the European Community (LINGUA) (1990-1994). As in previous years, the Compendium includes projects accepted under the centrally managed programme actions, including: - Measures to promote in-service training of foreign language teachers and trainers; - Measures to promote knowledge of foreign languages used in work relations and in economic life; - Complementary measures. It also features tables giving detailed information about the projects including: - Levels and skills targeted; - Target sectors and end users; - Learners' languages and target languages of the final products. This fourth edition of the LINGUA Compendium comes at the end of five years of LINGUA activity. From 1995, the activities currently supported by the LINGUA programme will be continued, complemented and expanded under the new SOCRATES and LEONARDO DA VINCI programmes.
