Technology initiative for disabled and elderly people (TIDE) - synopses of projects funded
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a report entitled "Technology initiative for disabled and elderly people - bridge phase synopses". The publication contains synopses of 55 projects funded under the European Commission's TIDE programme during its "bridge phase" (1993-1997). An introduction to the TIDE programme is provided which outlines its objectives and scope The report includes information on the background to the programme and a summary of the response of sector actors to the bridge-phase call for proposals. The report covers 55 projects grouped into the following six areas: - Access to technology and related services; - Life at home and remote care; - Mobility and transport; - Control and manipulation; - Restoration and enhancement of function; - User and market issues. Each synopses includes a project description, a technical description, impact and expected results. The report also includes a synopses of two projects funded under the COPERNICUS programme which are being monitored under the TIDE office.
