The European Commission, DG III, has published a report on international cooperation, within the context of the Community's ESPRIT programme, in the area of information technology research and development. The report includes summaries of international joint research projects and networks, in the field of information technology, supported by the Community since 1990. Information is included on: - Joint actions between partners in the ESPRIT programme and research teams founded by the United States' National Science Foundation; - Joint actions between EU partners and teams from various third countries with whom specific agreements had been concluded; - Projects and networks involving EU researchers and organizations from Central and East European countries and the new independent States of the former Soviet Union. The projects and networks described cover the whole area of information technology as defined in the ESPRIT programme, including: software systems, microelectronics and microsystems, high performance computing, business and home systems, multimedia and peripherals, and computer integrated manufacturing and engineering.
