Mid-term evaluation of the second Marine Science and Technology (MAST) programme
The European Commission, DG XII, has published a mid-term evaluation of the second Marine and Science and Technology programme (MAST II), implemented under the Third Framework Programme for research and technological development and demonstration. The general objectives of the programme were to establish a scientific and technological basis for the exploration, exploitation, management and protection of European coastal waters and the seas surrounding Member States, and to introduce the necessary Community dimension to various on-going research activities. The main recommendations and findings of this evaluation report cover the following issues: - The future continuation or alteration of the programme; - The management of the programme; - The use of research results by the organizations carrying out the work; - The transfer of technology to other organizations by the movement of personnel, by licensing and by other means.
