MAST funding for regional seas research and structure and dynamics of shelf ecosystems
The first call for proposals for the Marine Science and Technology programme (MAST III) was published in December 1994. Under this call, a deadline of 15 June 1995 was set for proposals for sub-areas A.3 and B.1.2. of the MAST work programme. These areas cover respectively: - Regional seas research (Mediterranean Sea, Baltic Sea, Canary-Azores region and the Alboran Sea, the Northeastern Atlantic continental margin); - Structure and dynamics of shelf ecosystems. A total of 40 proposals were received in response to this sector of the call; 12 under area A.3 and 28 under area B.1.2. Of these, 13 have been accepted for funding. Thus, six research projects in the area of regional seas research will receive funding of ECU 27.5 million, and seven projects on the structure and dynamics of shelf ecosystems will receive funding of ECU 8.5 million.
