Final adoption of EU General Budget for 1996
The General Budget of the European Union for the financial year 1996 was adopted by the European Parliament on 21 December 1995. This adoption by Parliament is the final step in the legislative procedure. The text of the adopted Budget is now available in the Official Journal of the European Communities. Chapters in the General Budget present the overall statement of revenue plus statements of revenue and expenditure by institution (Parliament, Council, Commission, Court of Justice, Court of Auditors). A section on Research and Technological Development is included under the statement concerning the Commission. The Budget confirms the allocation of an additional ECU 773 million to the EC Fourth Framework Programme for research and technological development and gives a breakdown of foreseen RTD expenditure, in 1996.
