Spain to receive ECU 565 million from Cohesion Fund
The European Community's Cohesion Fund is to provide ECU 565 million to help fund a series of Spanish projects to be implemented in 1996. The projects in question cover the following four areas: - Water treatment and purification (ECU 48 million); - Solid waste management: urban, industrial, and toxic waste (ECU 23 million); - Improvement of the urban environment: creation, rehabilitation, enlargement and restoration of parks and river banks (ECU 16 million); - Road transport infrastructure (ECU 435.7 million); Regions due to benefit from these projects include: Valencia, Madrid, the Basque Country, the Balearic Islands, Andalusia, Catalonia, the Canary Islands, Navarre, Aragon and Galicia.
