Second call for proposals for BIOMED programme
The European Commission, DG XII, has published the second call for proposals under the specific programme of research, technological development, including demonstration, in the field of biomedicine and health (BIOMED). Proposals are invited for RTD actions in the following areas of the BIOMED work programme: - 1. Pharmaceuticals research; - 2. Research on biomedical technology and engineering; - 3. Brain research; - 4.2. Research on AIDS, tuberculosis and other infectious diseases; - 5. Human genome research. Proposals accepted will be for shared-cost actions, for which Community contribution will not exceed 50% of total costs, or for concerted actions, for which the Community may cover up to 100% of the costs of the concertation. Projects should, in general involve participation from at least two member states. The Community may be able to give financial support for participants from third countries in Central and Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. A third call for proposals covering the other areas of the work programme will be issued on 17 September 1996, with a deadline of 17 December 1996. Applications for research fellowships (12-24 months), from scientists who are citizens of a Member State of the European Union or other states participating in the BIOMED programme, can be submitted, during the period 1996-1998, by the following closing dates: - 1 April 1996 for Areas 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the work programme; - 31 December 1996 for Areas 4, 6, 7 and 8 of the work programme; - 31 December 1997 for all areas. These training activities must not take place in either the applicant's country of citizenship or the country in which the applicant normally resides.
