SOCRATES - Questions of mutual interest concerning educational policy
The European Commission, DG XXII, has published a call for proposals relating to the implementation of Chapter III, Action 3, Point 1 (Questions of mutual interest concerning educational policy) of the SOCRATES Community action programme in the field of education. This action comes within the context of a series of measures aimed at improving and facilitating the exchange of information and experience in the field of education between countries participating in the SOCRATES programme (Member States of the European Union and EFTA countries party to the agreement establishing the European Economic Area (EEA)). Within the framework of the action in question, the Commission intends to provide financial aid to projects in three specific areas: - The development of studies and analyzes on themes of mutual interest; - The implementation of operational activities such as the exchange of experts, study visits, colloquia, workshops or pilot projects on these themes; - The carrying out of measures aimed at spreading: . The results of study activities and operational activities financed from this action; . The results of studies and analyzes which, while connected to the thematic priorities of this call for proposals, are not supported directly within the framework of this action. The two priority themes in 1996 will be the same as in 1995, the first year of implementation: - A. The role of education with regard to young people exiting educational systems without adequate preparation; - B. The evaluation of non-higher-level education. In 1996, Commission support will be limited, under Theme A, to measures concerning the carrying out of studies and analyzes as well as activities aimed at spreading their results. With regard to Theme B, the Commission will also provide financial support to certain operational activities such as colloquia, workshops, study visits and the exchange of experts. Pilot projects will, however, remain excluded in 1996. Studies may involve one or more bodies from one or several countries participating in the programme. A certain priority will, nonetheless, be given to proposals actively involving organizations from several countries participating in the programme. Further information on the procedures for the submission of proposals will be provided in the SOCRATES Information Dossier which may be obtained from the Commission services. The Information Dossier will contain, in particular: - The SOCRATES Vademecum; - An "Applicants' Guide" containing detailed information on the types of activities for which support from the Commission may be granted, the participation criteria for the programme and the procedures to be followed for a request for subsidy; - The official SOCRATES application form. The request must also refer explicitly to Chapter III, Action 3, Point 1 of the SOCRATES programme. Requests for financing should be submitted, by registered mail, to the address above. Dossiers may not be sent by facsimile and/or in several parts. Incomplete dossiers will not be accepted.
