The Third EC-Mongolia Joint Committee Meeting took place in Ulanbaatar on 25-26 April 1996, under the auspices of the Trade and Cooperation Agreement concluded in 1992 between Mongolia and the European Union.

Both sides expressed satisfaction at the ten Community-funded projects, worth about ECU 18 million, which have been successfully implemented in Mongolia over the last four years. The projects concern the development of marketing research institutes and management institutes, the strengthening of veterinary science, the establishment of a centre for SMEs, and the creation of an information network for education, carried out under the TACIS programme.

The Mongolian side expressed interest in receiving further funding for projects to be carried out during 1996 and 1997 concerning development in the fields of infrastructure, human resources, and enterprise and finance.
