The European Commission, DG XI, has launched an open call for tender for research and demonstration of waste incineration. The Commission is awarding a study contract for a project whose aim is to research and study the distribution of specific elements during the waste incineration and treatment of the gaseous and liquid emissions in small-scale incinerators, taking into account the integrated approach and the introduction of stricter standards. Tenderers must have demonstrable experience in operation of industrial-scale research facilities and in waste treatment, as well as competence in sampling and analysis of effluents, in particular for dioxins, heavy metals and leachings. The project must be completed within 12 months from the date of signature of the contract. Tender specifications, including a detailed technical annex, may be obtained from the European Commission.
