The European Awareness Scenario Workshops on "Sustainable urban living in the coming decades" are a project of the INNOVATION programme for the dissemination and exploitation of research results, run by DG XIII of the European Commission. The aim of the workshops is to encourage public debate, to create a balanced relationship between society, technology and the environment, and to ensure sustainable development according to the wishes and needs of local communities. The scenario workshops' methodology was originally developed by the Danish Board of Technology (TeknologiNævnet), and selected by the Commission to be developed for trans-European applications. The current phase of the project, in collaboration with the European Sustainable Cities Campaign, aims at disseminating the methodology of the Awareness Scenario Workshops throughout the EU.
