The European Commission, DG XI, has published an open call to tender for a study contract in the field of nuclear safety. The study would analyse the management of disused sealed radioactive sources in the Russian Federation, including the establishment of an inventory of the sources in store, the regulations laid down, the current management practices, the possibility of retrieving non-registered sources (if any), and the definition of improved management schemes. This action is in line with the Council Resolution of 18 June 1992 on the technological problems of nuclear safety (OJ No C 172 of 8.7.1992 p. 2). The study must be completed within 18 months from the date of signature of the contract.
