Disposal of radioactive waste arising from reprocessing operations in "Mayak"
The European Commission, DG XI, has published an open call to tender for a study contract in the field of nuclear safety. The study would assess the possibility of establishing near-surface and underground disposal sites in the southern Urals in which all waste products (low-, medium- and high-level wastes) generated by reprocessing operations at Chelyabinsk-65 ("Mayak") might be disposed of in a safe way. This action is in line with the Council Resolution of 18 June 1992 on the technological problems of nuclear safety (OJ No C 172 of 8.7.1992 p. 2). The study must be completed within 18 months from the date of signature of the contract. Requests for the tender specifications, and completed tenders, may be submitted to: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection DG XI/A.2 - Budget, finances and contracts Mr. Sinnott 200 rue de la Loi (TRMF 4/87) B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-2994449
