Detailed descriptions collected by CORDIS of more than 200 European Community science and technology programmes are included in a new electronic guide available on diskette. "European Science and Technology" provides a wide range of information (particularly useful to persons or organizations interested in participating in EC research programmes and projects) on programme objectives, their legal basis, programme duration, methods of implementation, budget, publications, acronyms, and relations with other programmes. It not only covers programmes included in the Community's Framework programme for research and technological development, but also related programmes in the areas of technology transfer, information sciences, energy, environment, education, regional development, etc. The guide makes use of a multilingual graphics interface as well as the hypertext structure for rapid and user-friendly access to information. It is currently available on two 3.5" disks for use on PC-compatibles running Windows 3.0 having an 80386 processor, a minimum of 2 Mb of main memory, 5 Mb of free hard disk space plus a VGA display unit. A copy of "European Science and Technology" is available free of charge (while stocks last) to each applicant prepared to return comments on its utility to the issuing service.
