The European Commission, DG XI, has launched an open call to tender for a study of inspection techniques for the manufacturing of components for nuclear power plants. This study focuses on qualification of NDE techniques for manufacturing components of a pressurized water reactor, and should provide a basis for the harmonization of European practices. The fundamental objectives of the study are: - To assess needs for qualification of NDE for manufacturing components; - To identify and categorize the different cases where qualification has been performed; - To propose different possible approaches taking into account the most recent developments in the field. The study should include the following steps: - Analysis of prescriptions enforced by codes and current practices used in EU countries; - Determination of the needs and the approaches to be recommended for qualification of NDE techniques; - Setting up of recommendations for implementation into main codes and standards. The study should be completed within 14 months following the signature of the contract. Tenderers must demonstrate experience in this area, and propose an organization with representatives from several EU Member States. Requests for tender specifications, and completed tenders, should be sent to: European Commission DG XI - Environment, nuclear safety and civil protection Mr. B.
