The seventh plenary session of the Maritime Industries Forum takes place in Marseille, France, on 4 and 5 July 1996. The Forum will be attended by Mr. Neil Kinnock and Mr. Martin Bangemann, Commissioners responsible for transport and industry respectively, as well as MEPs, representatives of the Member States' governments, maritime industries and trade unions. Subjects under discussion include: - Reinforcement of competitiveness of maritime industries; - Consequences of the suspension of negotiations in the World Trade Organization on maritime services; - The non-ratification by the USA of the OECD agreement on ship-building. The two Commissioners will present their recent communications on maritime strategy and maritime industries, and will outline the work of the "Transport intermodality" and "Maritime systems of the future" research/industry task forces.
