Economic actors in local development
The European Commission, DG XVI, has published a fact sheet on the economic actions in support of local development supported by the Community's regional policies. These actions include: - "Europartenariat", a series of events held across Europe where local enterprises can display their products and services, and meet other companies from across Europe, with a view to increasing sales and forming partnerships. Meetings are planned in advance, with the aid of a catalogue of participating companies circulated through the networks of Community information services; - "Euroleaders", which every year offers a small number of young European entrepreneurs training courses, following which they will prepare a European business plan with which to approach investors; - "Directoria", an annual event where representatives of local and regional authorities, as well as public and private enterprises and Commission officials, can exchange information and make known their concerns about regional policies; - The European Community Business and Innovation Centres Network, which covers all the Member States as well as Central and Eastern Europe. It provides assistance to local entrepreneurs in particular projects, both through information on existing services and through establishing services which the local area is lacking. The fact sheet also contains contact details for each action.
