Support for exchange of experience in natural disasters
The European Commission, DG XI, has launched an open call for tenders to establish a support cell for exchanging experience in the field of natural disasters. The tender is for the establishment and operation in 1996 of a pilot support cell in civil protection for exchanging experience in the field of natural disasters, and to develop and manage a Community reference information system aimed at gathering information and data relating to natural disasters occurring in EU territory, as well as other events of significance for Member States occurring outside the EU. This cell will provide technical and scientific support to the Commission and the Member States to enable them to determine the necessary information and to analyse and present it. Detailed descriptions of the tasks to be achieved by the pilot cell are included in the technical annex of the call for tender dossier. The project is considered as the first part of a pilot phase and must last ten months from the date of signature of the contract.
