A Council Regulation temporarily suspending the autonomous Common Customs Tariff duty on certain industrial products in the microelectronics and related sectors (3544/91/EEC of 25.11.91) lists a large number of specific product types including (for instance) magnetic disks, N-MOS and C-MOS (control, logic and microprocessor) circuits, monolithic ICs, ceramic filters, electric motors (stepping and DC), printer heads, optical detectors, 100mm VDU units, dry zinc/carbon batteries, plus an extensive range of other devices. As production of the devices referred to in the Regulation is at present inadequate within the Community and producers are thus unable to meet the needs of user industries, it is in the Community's interest to partially suspend the duties, and in other cases to suspend them completely. These suspension measures should be taken only temporarily, and shall apply from 1 January to 30 June 1992. A complete list of the devices specified by the Regulation is included in a 96-page Annex to the proposal.
