INFO2000 programme - Inventory of telematics training facilities
Under the INFO2000 programme, special attention is given to changes taking place in everyday working life within the framework of the Information Society. New skills are emerging which correspond to careers specialized in the development of telematics applications. To provide trainees with the necessary telematics tools, the first phase of the INFO2000 programme is concentrating on gathering precise and factual information on existing European training facilities leading to qualifications, and on occupations in relation to telematics. The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender aimed at establishing an inventory of occupations and telematics training facilities within the European Community and the EFTA countries, thus bringing to the fore the strengths and weaknesses exposed at European level in order to prepare for the further development of this sector. The project is divided into four phases: - Authoring of a manual describing the methodology and rules applicable for carrying out the inventory and describing the training facilities and specialist education centres, and describing the structure of the production base; - Establishing an inventory of the training facilities and gathering detailed information in relation to the proposed model; - Setting up a database containing the information collected concerning the training facilities and specialist education centres; - Evaluation and dissemination plan.
