The European Environment Agency (EEA) has launched a call for expressions of interest for technical assistance in a number of areas related to the work programme of the EEA. The areas in which assistance is sought are: - Environmental scientist(s) with experience in developing and maintaining World Wide Web (WWW) sites, virtual libraries, discussion groups, and with writing skills for authoring news coverage on environmental issues using the Internet; - Software engineer with good skills in the development and implementation of applications for WWW access to relational databases (Oracle and MS Access); - IT specialist with specific skills for development on Windows 95 platform in Access and Oracle; - Specialist for environmental data processing; converting, summarizing, presenting, analysing, converting and processing environmental data. Experience with spreadsheets, DBMS, statistical and desktop mapping tools; - Computer graphics specialist(s) with experience in designing WWW sites and electronic documents, skills for creating illustrations, experience in video production and conversions from analogue to digital video and audio, design of multimedia products for Internet and CD-ROM; - Software developers experienced in design and development of advanced applications for information retrieval in a distributed network environment; - GIS ARC/INFO specialist with advanced capacities in geographical data management, RDBMS and AML macro development; - Consultation on multimedia production and development; - Consultation on UNIX system and network management, including system security; - Consultation on office automation; - Documentalist, with broad experience in environmental information sources and skilled in the field of documentary information for both internal and public services; support in the Danish language; - Documentalist, with broad experience in environmental information sources and skilled in the field of documentary information for both internal and public services; support in any other Community language; - Consultant for logistic support to EEA events and public activities, with knowledge of local situation; - Graphics layout and design specialist for creating and finishing the graphic design and layout for newsletters and environmental reports; having short delivery times to emerging needs. The EEA will draw up a list on the basis of replies to the call. Individuals or companies selected from the list will be invited to tender for specific areas of the work programme in response to restricted invitations.
