Telematics applications for air transport
The European Commission, DG XIII, has launched an open call to tender for a set of studies on telematics applications in air transport and related fields. The tender includes the following lots: - Lot 1: study related to the air-traffic management system in support of the development of strategic plans, particularly for the European core area, with special reference to telecommunications needs; - Lot 2: study of the air-traffic management system market in support of standardization actions; - Lot 3: support for standardization actions in global navigation satellites; - Lot 4: application and demonstration experiments to explore and promote the use of telematics technologies to support advanced concepts in air transport; - Lot 5: study of the effect of wake vortices in air transport; - Lot 6: the application of telematics to meteorological services; - Lot 7: the cost of implementing Mode S data link, STDMA, the US TDMA, VHF data links; - Lot 8: data links; - Lot 9: airlines and current Community initiatives. Tenderers may bid for one or more of the lots, under separate cover. The deadline for completing the studies is likely to be 30 months for most of the lots.
