Advanced television services - Support to Community action plan
The European Commission, DG XIII, has issued an invitation to tender concerning the provision of support for the implementation of the Community's "Action plan for the introduction of advanced television services in Europe". The Commission is seeking to conclude a contract with an agent to provide specialized assistance to the Commission in implementation of that part of the action plan concerned with radio communications services. The agent contracted as a result of the present call will be required to provide expert assessment of the commercial aspects of proposals put forward by broadcasters, in particular with regard to: - The measure in which they might interest television viewers; - The technical quality of the proposed services; - The integration of 16/9-format programmes into the broadcasters' strategy. The agent will then submit to the Commission an assessment of results and a report containing recommendations.
