The European Commission, DG III, has released the results of the sixth call for proposals launched under its specific RTD programme in the field of information technologies (ESPRIT), published on 15 March 1996 (OJ No S 53 of 15.3.1996 p. 36). A total of 822 proposals were submitted, requesting funding totalling ECU 569.37 million. Of these 230 were selected and awarded total funding of ECU 163.06 million. The majority of proposals received were in the "Software technologies" sector of the ESPRIT work programme, with 124 projects selected from 529 proposals received. ECU 35.96 million of the financing will go to these software technologies projects. Seventy eight proposals submitted under the continuous submission scheme were evaluated with the proposals from the sixth call. Of the 78 proposals, five were selected for funding. These will receive ECU 2 million in total.
