The European Commission, DG XII, has launched an open call to tender for the coordination of studies in the Member States on local initiatives to combat social exclusion. This tender concerns assistance to the Commission in the co-ordination of 15 studies in view of establishing and exploiting a European data base on local initiatives to combat social exclusion. The co-ordination will be undertaken by the Commission department responsible for the project assisted by the contractor. The contractor, under instructions provided by the Commission, will ensure the harmonization of the information/data to be submitted to the Commission, and will provide both a manual and a final report detailed in the terms of reference. The contractor is required: - a) To contribute to the harmonization of the information/data collected by the contractors in each Member State by providing them computer models; - b) To provide the responsible Commission department with a user-friendly manual in French and English concerning the use of the computer models as mentioned above; - c) To establish and maintain day-to-day links between the Commission and relevant contractors from each Member State; - d) To draw up harmonized final studies and reports and participate in the assembling and the evaluating of these studies as well as in drafting of the final version of these reports; - e) To participate in frequent meetings between the Commission departments and the contractors involved in gathering information/data; - f) To propose a method to assure the continuation of the collecting of controlled updated information/data in each Member State and their transfer to the Commission after the termination of the contracts, indicating the relevant cost. The contracts will last for a maximum of 24 months. The studies in the Member States are the subject of a separate call, tenderers for the coordination may not submit tenders for individual studies.
