The European Commission, DG XVII, has launched a call for proposals for demonstration projects under the specific RTD programme in the field of non-nuclear energy. The objectives and the demonstration activities covered by this call for proposals relate to areas described in the work programme. Proposals for demonstration projects in the following areas are invited: - Chapter 2: Rational Use of Energy (RUE): . 2.1 RUE in buildings; . 2.2 RUE in industry; . 2.3 Energy industry and fuel cells; . 2.4 RUE in transport and urban infrastructure; - Chapter 3: Renewable Energy Sources (RES): . 3.2 Solar photovoltaic; . 3.3 Renewable energy sources in buildings; . 3.4 Wind energy; . 3.5 Energy from biomass and waste; . 3.6 Hydroelectric plants; . 3.7 Geothermal energy; . 3.8 Energy storage and further options (solar thermal electricity); - Chapter 4: Fossil fuels: . 4.1 Solid fuels; . 4.4 Hydrocarbons. The Community's contribution to demonstration projects will be up to a maximum of 40% of the eligible cost of the project. As a general rule, demonstration projects should involve at least two non-affiliated partners from different Member States or from at least one Member State and one Associated State.
