Industry fellowships to Ireland
The Community's specific programme for the training and mobility of researchers (TMR) supports the mobility of researchers across Europe. As a special initiative, the TMR Information Centre in Dublin has identified a number of companies which are willing to receive TMR Fellows. Details of these firms are given below. Any post-doctoral researcher who may be interested in working with these companies, using support from the EU TMR Programme, should send his/her curriculum vitae to the Dublin TMR Information Centre quoting the company reference (for reasons of confidentiality the names of the companies are not supplied): - Company A: Manufactures small business telecommunications switching systems for up to 20 users on PSTN and ISDN. The company has an R&D staff of 20 and is interested in researching the next generation of small business switching products which will incorporate broadband communications to the desk and utilize networks such as AMT; - Company B: Involved in the manufacture of chemical products, including sealants and adhesives. It has a large R&D Department and is interested in hearing from researchers in the following areas: . Rheology of non-aqueous pastes/fluids; . "Triple roll milling" of reactive formulations; . Heat curing of epoxy compositions; . Solders for surface mount application; - Company C: A major food producer with strong links to University College, Cork and Teagasc (the Irish Agricultural Research Agency). Research, which would be carried out in collaboration with these organizations, would cover: . Spreadability of fats/butters; . Stabilization of fresh dairy products with dairy ingredients and hydrocolloids; . Fermentation of fresh dairy products; - Company D: A manufacturer of veterinary and human pharmaceuticals interested in locating researchers with a pharmacy background and experience in new product formulation and drug delivery systems; - Company E: Company in the consumer food and drink area seeking: . A molecular biologist to work on the development of novel yeast strains; . An organic chemist with experience of GC, GC-sniff and MS to work on the characterization of volatile heterocyclic compounds significant in flavour; . GC/MS researcher with good practical experience of statistical analysis and a knowledge of sensors to work on the development of pattern recognition algorithms for process control in beverage production; . A physicist or chemical/biochemical engineer with a knowledge of instrumentation to help develop an instrumental technique for characterizing bubble collapse in low density foams; - Company F: Manufactures high-quality magnesia for the refractory and chemical industries. It is seeking a ceramics/materials scientist with proficiency in analytical techniques including x-ray diffraction/SEM/TEM; - Company G: A small engineering company which specialises in energy auditing and surveying. It is interested in research engineers with skills in energy management in building/industrial processes.
